Casual Disability Support Workers (Day Program)

About the Role:

As a Disability Support Worker, you’ll work in a group-based day program that supports adults with intellectual disabilities to participate in meaningful learning and recreational activities.  Whether you’re supporting people to enhance their cooking skills, running an art program, supporting social outings, or facilitating social connections between participants this role will encompass all these areas.

Who We’re Looking For:

We are looking for people who are:

  • Compassionate, reliable and values driven.
  • Committed to person-centred practice and promoting the rights of people with disability.
  • Available to work day shifts Monday to Friday and for casual call-in shifts as required. 
  • Confident supporting people with daily living, personal care and health support (training provided).
  • Clear communicators who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable using technology and have access to an electronic device and internet (e.g. smartphone or tablet) to complete case notes, incident reports and training requirements.
  • Able to build positive, respectful relationships with participants, families and colleagues.
  • Previous experience working in a Day Program setting (desirable)

Qualifications & Experience

Casual positions are available at Level 2 depending on qualifications and experience.

Level 2 – Experienced (12 months or more)

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent (desirable).
  •  Minimum 12 months experience in disability, community or health services, including supporting people with health or behavioural needs.
  • Experience or maturity enabling effective support for people with intellectual, physical, multiple disabilities or ABI.

Mandatory for All Applicants

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • National Criminal History (Police) Check
  • Working with Children Check – Employee
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009), or willingness to complete the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • Access to and willingness to use a personal electronic device (e.g. smartphone or tablet) with internet connectivity for work purposes, including accessing ConnectGV systems (e.g. CRM), in accordance with organisational policies.
